Performance of Veterinary Services (PVS)

This visualisation summarises Performance of Veterinary Services (PVS), as reported by countries to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE).

The scores give an idea of the landscape of veterinary services in different countries: the level of funding, how many vets, what kind of training they have, and other attributes.

The tool is designed to assist veterinary services to assess their current level of performance, identify gaps and weaknesses in their ability to comply with OIE international standards, to form a shared vision with stakeholders (including the private sector) and to establish priorities and carry out strategic initiatives.

Scores can also be used to guide investment in a country’s veterinary services, and also as an indicator of a country’s capacity to implement livestock interventions.
